A chef and her kitchen manager collide in this queer romcom.

Simone and her roommate (not friend because of the reasons that follow) have a strange relationship. They have a transactional relationship and if Simone expects emotional labor from Luna (said roommate), she has to pay her in food. Which is bizarre and gives me the ick. They’ve been roommates for five years and they’re still not friends? I wouldn’t even believe that this person cared for me if they needed baked goods to be supportive of me. What is Luna, a capricorn stellium? That’s no way to be with someone you actually care about.

Also, Simone is an uptight bitch with rigid boundaries. No wonder the only person in her life is the roommate who is not a friend. Both of those characters swung to the other side of the pendulum. Like yes porous boundaries are bad but equally as bad are rigid boundaries. It’s called having flexible boundaries. You have to let people in to have meaningful relationships. Otherwise you isolate yourself.

I loved Second Chances in New Port Stephen and I highly recommend it. This one not so much.

Super fun and light read!
I read Chef’s Choice first so it was nice to see Luna there 💕
The build up was very well done, even tough Simone got in my nerves sometimes
