much like many other reviewers on here, i have come here to say the first half? impeccable, fun, i was kicking my feet from here to vermont. but the second half? whew boy was that all over the PLACE. i hate to see a plot not know what it’s doing but i will keep reading about these lil babies!!
4 Stars
I liked this much better than Merry Little Meet-Cute but there were still some issues. I don’t love the trope that popped up in the second half of the book, but I did like Kallum and Winnie.

I never thought a smutty rom com could make me cry with its accurate take on the trauma of purity culture but here we are. I loved Winnie and Kallum so much and was so glad to see characters back from A Merry Little Meet Cute. Fingers crossed for more Christmas Notch books!

A Holly Jolly Ever After was one of the cutest/dirtiest books I’ve read in a while. I loved that I felt like I was reading a cute little rom com, but with hidden spice. Winnie’s familial story was very relatable, all the way down to the “purity” culture and beliefs/feelings about sex.
Massive tone shift due to a surprise trope in the middle of the book that I didn’t enjoy & seemed to sap a lot of the humor that makes this series so enjoyable. Not as good as the first book.

This book follows Winnie Baker (a former child star with a newly tarnished reputation) and Kallum Lieberman (former boyband member with a viral sex tape and a pizza shop) as they star in a steamy holiday romance for the Hope Channel. These two are truly trying to make the best of a bad situation. Neither of them has earned the reputation they have and both have been mistreated and overlooked. When Winnie's lack of sexual experience starts to negatively impact her performance, the two team up in a silly and spicy way.
I really loved these characters and the way that they were impacted by rumors about themselves. Their relationship was sweet and I thought the spice was fantastic. Winnie's reckoning with her upbringing and sexual awakening really gave Disney or Nickelodeon child star, and I was able to compare her to a lot of the stars I feel like I grew up with. I think this added a level of connection. I also really appreciated the way these two communicated, because that is a gripe I frequently have in romances!
This book featured a trope I HATE:surprise pregnancy . There are ways it can be done that I don't mind but this book specifically did it the way that I deem bad. I also found myself cringing from time to time. Some of the spice was awkward and "sex lessons" can be kind of a weird set up for me to grapple with. It often rubs me wrong especially when the man is more experienced. Idk. That's me.
Overall I thought this was a fun, spicy, Christmassy romcom and I would recommend it to anyone looking for exactly that!
