So I really wanted to like this one. For me it was too slow moving along. There is a lot of day by day and second by second stuff that I felt was unnecessary. I did skim at times and felt I did not miss anything important to the storyline. There is quite a bit that happens in here so the excess seemed unnecessary to me. I liked the storyline (minus excess) and the connection between these two is wonderful. I like his friends and family. His oldest brother looks to have a good story especially since I already love Neve.
This is an okay story for me but I do love these characters. It has small town charm and some suspense mixed with romance. I was kept turning pages trying to figure everything out.
This is the second book in the Fall River series and an amazing read.
We meet Joy who has inherited her mothers shop and all the bad memories that go with it so she wants to pull it down and rebuild but Charlie, the builder/restorer has other ideas.
I loved the banter between the two and it isn't long before the feelings start to change. Could it be just what Joy needs to take her away from her fast paced life in the city.
A twists and turns with plenty of drama but also a perfect ending.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

So much going on in this book that kept the pages turning and the curiosity peaked!
Joy Holiday's mother has passed leaving the Crystal Haven behind for Joy to deal with as the executor of the estate, but all she wants is to get back to Chicago and her padded lifestyle. She wants the building demolished, she's hired the contractor ready for progress. Only to find out - he won't demo, because Charlie Hunnicutt is on the town's preservation committee and helped shape the policies for the historical buildings.
"Princess" Joy Holiday and Contractor Charlie Hunnicutt are off to a rocky start. While butting heads over the buildings remodel, attraction blossoms.
As their budding romance deepens they face the challenges of their two worlds clashing.

I know I’ve said it before but dang it these Hunnicut brothers are delectable 🥰🤣😉
So Charlie owns the renovation/construction company in town and he’s heart is in preserving the i story of the town so when Joy wants to “demolish” her aunts shop he’s quick to try and save it but Joy is a tough but to crack and she sure has her own ideas 🤣🙈
Joy Holiday a city girl just wants to get her business done in Fall River , she inherited her moms run down store “ Crystal Harmony Haven” and let’s just say she has attitude with a capital A and at first her and Charlie are at loggerheads and I’ll be honest I didn’t like her at first but then my heart thaws a little hee I see how she reacts to Charlie’s dogs I believe you can tell slit by the way a person treats animals do be patient with our little diva 🥰😉she’s very different to her quirky mom but every household has its cross to bear and tough times …..
Their road to HEA wasn’t easy and they’ve got a lot to deal with and work through but again they’ve got a brilliant support system in friends and family . I enjoyed their tension , steam and banter almost as much as I enjoyed Noah and Hailey but each couple owns my heart in a different way now it’s up to Reece to see if he can take their place 🤩😉 ( I’m excited for his story)

I was a massive fan of The Keeper, the first book of the Fall River Series, and this second book did not disappoint!
It’s now Charlie Hunnicutt’s turn to tell readers his story. He is a passionate preservationist who sees every structure as a living thing with a story to tell. He takes great pride in his projects. Joy Holiday has come to Fall River to settle her late mother’s estate, and she intends to return to her life in the city as quickly as possible. She wants to sell quickly. However, she has to bring the building up to code, and this is when Charlie enters the picture. The two repeatedly butt heads over the fate of the building. As the two are thrown together to see this project finished, they begin connecting on a much deeper level. But, how can two polar opposites find their way to lasting happiness?
I loved Charlie when I met him in the first book. He’s definitely easy on the eyes, but as I read more of the book, that falls away. The only thing I saw was his sweet soul. I admit it took a little longer for me to like Joy, but as I got to know her better, I saw that under her tough exterior was a little girl with a broken heart. She has to face her childhood issues if she is ever going to find happiness as an adult. She longs to have a family who loves her, and if she would let Charlie past the iron-clad walls surrounding her heart, he could give her that.
I was so happy to return to Fall River to see the characters I have come to love. I can’t wait to return with the third upcoming book!

This is the second in the series but can be read as a standalone. The story is well written and the characters relatable and able to pull you out of the real world and help forget you aren't part of the story world.
You've got big city girl meets small town boy, and all the stubbornness you would expect from the pairing. There's plenty of bickering, plenty of laughs, and lots of steaminess.
When I read a book, one of the things that I love is when I can forget I'm reading and can so clearly see the story playing out. This book 100% delivered that.
I would recommend this story and author to anyone, I really don't think you will be disappointed.

The second book in the Fall River series, we follow younger brother Charlie Hunnicutt as he battles with the daughter of Hellene (departed owner of the crystal shop). Joy wants nothing more than to demolish the shop and see the town of Fall river and the memories of her mum and their dysfunctional relationship in the rear view mirror of her rented car. There is a lot of family stress between Joy and her sister, and Joy struggles with aspects of her coping strategies. There is again chemistry in abundance.
Another great book where the characters continue to grow, The storyline is engaging and continues to link back to the first book's characters, although it could be read as a stand alone it is a really good continuation.
I really cannot wait to read what happens to the Hunnicutts and maybe a few more of the residents of the town.
The Fixer was book two in The Fall River Series, and it was about Charlie, book one’s MMC’s brother, and Joy, who inherits an old house, and wants to find someone to tear it down. Charlie, and the Hunnicutts, care very deeply about the history and attention their town gets, so he finds himself wanting to restore the house instead. I enjoy G. K. Brady’s novels, the dynamics between the characters, and the heart that goes into all of her novels. I look forward to reading more of this series.
3.5 – 4 stars
The Fixer" is an entertaining novella in The Playmakers series. It's a quick read and features an enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy with wit, humor, and banter that had me laughing out loud.
Charlie is incredibly frustrated thanks to one maddening big city girl. Just the sight of her gets him going in more ways than one.
Joy just wants to leave it all behind and never look back, as it's a reminder of a past full of heartbreaking pain. But one irritating man is making it more difficult.
Can these two find a middle ground? Will Charlie recognize her pain and help her through it, or will he walk away?
This fun, slow-burn romance is full of chemistry and sizzling tension that is palpable. Grab a copy and get lost in the ups and downs, as well as the mayhem and madness that ensues.
G.K.'s stories are fun, flirty, and sexy, making them a great way to retreat for some much needed "me" time.

Charlie and Joy are both fascinating characters. She is definitely the grumpier of the two as well as rather abrasive and standoffish, at least at first. It takes a bit, but the reasons for her behaviour eventually come to light. The building and all the memories attached to it are part of Joy’s painful past with her mother. Coming back to Fall River is torturous for her, not that she wants anyone else to know that. Charlie is a good man, dedicated to his job and passionate about saving old buildings and bringing them back to their former glory. Working with Joy tests his usual easy-going nature and patience. Gradually, he starts to see that under that brusque facade is a vulnerable woman dealing with demons from her past and he wants to help her her do so.
I liked the slow-burn romance, the snark and the banter between them as well as the twists and turns in their story. Both Charlie and Joy have so many layers to them that are slowly revealed as their story continues. Their story was engaging, sometimes emotional and well crafted.
I will happily recommend this book.
