I didn’t like this book as much as the previous two, but it was still pretty enjoyable. I actually preferred towards the end, where it was less romance and more serious. I couldn’t really relate to the main character for several reasons and I never really like when the two main characters sleep together immediately- it messes with any tension in the story. There were a couple small things I felt seemed unrealistic- Carla traveling by plane with a “Leatherman multi-tool” because I don’t think they would allow that as a carry-on and her and Eamon texting each other photos when hiking out in the wilderness (partly because of probable lack of signal but also because she has her phone in a foreign country).
Overall, this was a sweet story about two slightly dysfunctional people finding their ways.

I didn’t appreciate this the way that I should have. I didn’t know I wasn’t in the mood to be reading a romance until I was already committed. I also didn’t realize that it was part of a series with recurring characters. It could and did stand on its own but I think my experience would’ve been enhanced had I read the other books first.

That being said, how could I not enjoy an emotionally rich love story set in the Irish countryside that includes a belligerent bull accidentally drunk on sangria? I’d read another book by this author, for sure.

I don't know if I've just been lucky at picking some really good books recently or if I've just been in an emotional or sentimental state of mind over the past few weeks, but I've really loved the last several books I've read. This one was so cute, and I'm all for a swoony Irishman like Eamon. I also loved that there was little to no angst in this one, as well. It was pretty straightforward. And while there was a little bit of sadness as we moved toward the final part of the story, it ended just as it should have. Very sweet story.

It was fine. But if you want to read a romance there are several others more engaging than this one.

This was extremely readable and very enjoyable--I tore through this entire book in a single day. Off the Map strikes that ideal balance of humor, romance, healthy relationships, and dealing with personal issues that I love in a good rom com. I'm definitely eager to read more books by Trish Doller (this was my first, but it won't be my last!).

Minor spoilers: The first two thirds of Off the Map are a fun travel rom com through Ireland, while Carla meets and falls for Eamon. The last third had a lot more heavy emotional hits than I was expecting as Carla deals with her dad's dementia and takes stock of her own life. As other reviewers have noted, the romance arc happens very fast, but that felt right to me considering how the book needed space for Carla's relationship with her dad in the last third.

Cute and an easy read but this book could NOT hold my attention long enough to keep reading more than five chapters in one sitting. Could not emotionally connect with the characters or get invested in their development.

This was such an adventure! It was full of memories, emotions, new experiences, new ways to live, finding yourself and falling in love.
I loved Carla’s relationship with her dad, and their bond. It was a very special feeling.
I loved the snark & banter and how well Carla & Eamon fit together. It was sweet, and full of passion.

When I requested this book I actually had no clue it was book three in a series and it turns out I’d read and enjoyed Float Plan (book one) a couple of years ago!

Similar to how I felt about Float Plan, Off the Map is almost a bitter sweet read. It is a raw and real emotional journey filled with adventure and romance, but also some hard truths and painful moments of life. There’s little that’s as painful as being abandoned by a parent at a young age, or having your parent (or a loved one) slowly wither away with illness. Trish captures these emotions and the story of Carla Black perfectly and it was a quick read that drew me in right from the get-go. It was also a lot of fun to see the beloved characters Anna and Keane from book one getting married.

If you are looking for a romance that packs a punch, is whimsical while feeling realistic, and a romance that will leave you with a ton of wanderlust - this is definitely the book for you!!
