Wait, you’re telling me that his name is spelled “Eamon”? Audiobooks, amirite.
Anyway. What a strange time this was.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-ARC of this book.

I absolutely loved Float Plan but didn't like The Suite Spot as much so I was curious to see how Off the Map would stack up. I really enjoyed this one!! At times, it felt a little repetitive with Claire's stories about traveling and her father. I also wished it would have been a little bit longer and deeper. The ending felt a little rushed. I wished that her reunion with her dad was longer and also that her travels with Eamon were explained a bit more. But, overall, this was a great read. I enjoyed Claire and Eamon's relationship, especially how there wasn't really a big incident that led to a third act breakup but instead it was just two people who were on different paths in life and had to figure out themselves and if they could fit an unexpected relationship into their lives. Also loved getting another glimpse of Anna and Keane. I'll definitely be checking out whatever else Trish Doller writes!

DNF at 25%. It absolutely hurts my feelings when I can’t finish a book but it just never grabbed my attention. I find myself not wanting to pick it up and I hate that because I wanted to love it! I may try to read it again some other time but this book just wasn’t it for me.

*all of my thoughts are my own and a big thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC*

Trish Dollar, I was *not* prepared! Readers are met with a perfect balance of adventure, character growth, heartache, love, and some spice.

Carla is filled with wanderlust and is the solo travel extraordinaire. On the way to her best friend’s wedding in Ireland, she meets a man who just might make her question her isolated independence. In the first half I was so enthralled by the adventures and spice that the second half emotional rollercoaster absolutely blindsided me. These characters better each other in the best ways and push each other to their limits of expanding their horizons. This is so much more than a cute romance and is stuffed with relatable issues. Questioning if you’re on the right path? Trying to navigate what you want out of life? Embracing and working through some messy family dynamics? The punches just kept coming.

I can not recommend this book enough. It was absolutely everything I could want in a read and more.

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and Macmillan Audio and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

My Thoughts: This is the third book in the series Beck Sisters. While it does loop prior characters, it could be read as a stand alone, however, for the best reader experience, I would read the series in order. I have read the prior two books, which expanded on the characters. Carla travels the world but decides to stay at home with her dad. She travels with Eamon to her best friend’s wedding in Ireland. The travel is full of ups, downs, and all kinds of sideways. Carla and her father, Biggie’s relationship was very heartwarming. So how does the story go?

The story is narrated in a dual POV. Carla is an adventurer at heart, is kind, and free spirited. Eamon is fiercely independent, loves his family, and is x. The characters were well fleshed out, had witty banter, chemistry, and were creatively woven. The author does a great job with the complicated backstories of our MCs, you feel a part of them, and get absolutely invested in their story. The author’s writing style is complex, swoony, steamy, humorous, and had me invested. While this is not a ‘Beck’ sister per say, she was deeply involved with the family and Eamon was the brother of Keenan, whom Anna is marrying. The author represents Alzheimer’s and Dementia with grace and realistically.

The narrator, Sarah Naughton, does a great job with the voice narration, and her Ireland accent is very authentic. I loved this whole series. Doller writes these funny, steamy, and heartwarming romances. I am now a Doller fan and will read anything she puts out. I highly recommend picking up this book and the other two, Float Plan and The Suite Spot, along with this one.

Chose this book because it took place in Ireland, but didn’t much care for the characters or storyline. And it was sad

Some books just make you feel a certain way, and Off the Map had me yearning for my own road-trip. It made me feel the same way the movie of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty did as Walter traveled across Greenland—you can almost hear a soundtrack in the background while reading this book. No other author makes me want to travel like Trish Doller (Float Plan had me itching to get aboard a boat and head for the Caribbean), and I always know that when I read one of her books I am in for an adventure.

I didn’t think I could love a couple as much as Anna and Keane, but Carla and Eamon sure gave them a run for their money. As opposite a relationship could be from the first Beck Sisters book, this attraction hits heavy, hard, and fast. Unlike the previous two novels, Off the Map begins with a bang and doesn’t let up; Carla and Eamon are already acting on their sexual chemistry by the start of chapter 2. The set up of the story (the maid of honor and best man driving across Ireland to attend a wedding in a matter of days) allows Carla and Eamon to be so open with each other and act on their every whim as they only have this road trip together before they each go their own way.
Carla has always lived her life in the moment (according to the rules of Biggie Black, her father). She has taken every advantage to travel and see the world for the past 10 years, settling in Florida only long enough to save enough cash bartending at a pirate bar; insert hilarious costume and pirate jokes here. Eamon has shouldered the responsibilities of being an elder brother and quite opposite from Carla, has been afraid to truly step out and do the traveling he desires. Eamon is drawn to Carla because of her free spirited nature and her fearlessness with taking risks. I was immediately taken with Eamon’s easy going, ridiculously handsome Irish charm and could picture him perfectly in my head. Eamon Sullivan is a hero that wants to say “yes” to adventure and “yes” to opportunity, and Carla gives him that possibility by not putting any assumptions or restraints on him. From their first encounter in the pub, everything is a possibility and Eamon delights in showing Carla how grateful he is for that (and boy does he show her!

Carla Black is no stranger to travel, having spent most of her life on the road, first with her father and then on her own, so traveling to Ireland for her best friend, Anna's wedding is no big deal. Eamon Sullivan, the brother of Anna's fiance, meets Carla at the airport to drive her to the wedding site, but their trip ends up taking lots of twists and turns as Carla shows Eamon what it's like to spend time on the road, but their trip together offers much more than either of them planned.

Off the Map is more women's fiction than a romance, but Eamon does serve as a romantic lead character, even though very little is revealed about him and there is very little conflict between them. This story is more of a journey for Carla to discover what she wants out of her life and her relationship with her father, who is suffering from dementia. While the plot does tug at the heartstrings, it seems like a story that has been written many times before. What stands out is the description of the landscapes and landmarks of Ireland. It is also enjoyable to revisit the relationship between Anna and Keane from The Float Plan. Overall, Off the Map offers some humor as well as raising the issue of the emotional toll of dementia, but romance is a very small part of this story. 3 1/2 stars.

Probably my favourite of the series. It is spicier and I loved the setting of Ireland.
I felt like the ending was a bit rushed though. There wasn’t much of a reconciliation between Carla and Aemon and I wish we could have glimpses into their adventures a bit more- maybe an epilogue or even a second book? I wasn’t satisfied with the abrupt end I guess.
Still really liked it and would recommend it.
Trigger warnings: abandonment, death of a parent, dementia

This is the 3rd book in the Beck Sisters series although not actually about a Beck sister, but a friend of one of the sisters. Trish Doller delivers another cute, adventure filled romance novel. This one has far spicier open door scenes, so if that is not your cup of tea, you have been warned.

Overall a nice fluffy summer read with a little substance to keep you interested.

Thank you to St. Martin's and Netgalley for an advanced readers copy of this book for my honest review.
