My least favorite Doller ever. I really didn’t like Carla! I felt like she was wasn’t likeable. Her whole personality kind of made me cringe- the tattoos, the nomadic lifestyle, her lack of filter. Eamon was great but I wasn’t sure why he would like her.

Sexy Irish man meets emotionally-avoidant woman and both realize that they're living life by other people's rules. I loved seeing Carla's character development and how she dealt with her dad's decline (CW* dementia) and also how Eamon develops and is better able to not just communicate his needs and desires for life, but fully goes for it! The romance was sweet and the story line was fun to follow. I tend to be more reserved when it comes to adventure, so I definitely related to Eamon's hesitancy in taking the leaps necessary to make his dreams possible and I loved how that contrasted with Carla's impulsive and adventurous spirit. 4/5 stars
fast-paced

When I heard that a group was doing a buddy read of this book, I jumped on in. It was a very quick read as it was not very long, but it was super sweet and enjoyable. It is about Carla, who loves to travel and comes to Ireland for her best friend’s wedding (Anna, from Float Plan). She meets up with Eamon (Keane’s brother) to travel across the country to the wedding. They end up taking some detours along the way that lead to both love and Carla’s realization about what she is running from. This book contained a lot of steamy scenes – unlike the previous two books in this series – and also deals with the fact that Carla’s father is suffering from dementia. I felt that the story ended quickly, in a way that made me wish for more, but I still loved it.

2.75 stars. A little too predictable but pacing is good.

A Miniature Poodle and a Golden Doodle are lying on a bed with a softcover book between them. The book is Off the map by Trish Doller.

In Trish Doller's OFF THE MAP, Carla Black embodies the philosophy of savoring the moment over long-term commitments, steering her vintage Jeep Wrangler around the globe. Fate intertwines her journey with Eamon Sullivan, a disoriented cartographer seeking direction. Despite the romantic Irish backdrop, what ensues is not a simple airport pickup but a chemistry-laden odyssey filled with unexpected emotions. Unaware it was the third in a series, I was captivated by the romance against an Irish setting. Carla's complexities, balancing her desire for adventure with her father's Alzheimer's battle, added depth. Doller's writing and character development were compelling, prompting me to backtrack for the preceding novels in this delightful series.

I liked the family explorations in this one more than anything.

I rounded this up because I felt like her father’s dementia and the ending added more depth to the story. Also, as much as I liked Eamon, Stella’s love for Biggie stole the show.

3.5 stars

I adored the ending but I do wish we had more of a build up in the romance department like the others in the series. I would have felt more of their connection if it happened in the middle then right off the bat. I also hated that Carla hadn't seen her dad due to his illness for years. That personally probably comes from working at a nursing home for the past 8+ years and seeing it over and over again (as I said this is just a personal feeling and had no bearing on my rating as I can see where it helped the storyline).

Thanks to NetGalley for an arc of this audiobook. Below is my honest review.

This is the third book in the Beck sisters series and can be read as a standalone. However, I do recommend reading the first two books in the series, especially Float Plan.

Carla spent the summers of her youth traveling with her father. She loved it so much that she travels half the year as an adult. This book begins with Carla arriving in Ireland for the wedding of Anna and Keane (of Float Plan).

Eamon, Keane’s brother, creates maps for GPS companies. He has wanted to travel for ages, but never quite talked himself into it. Anna and Keane ask him to pick up Carla from the airport. Sparks fly between them from the beginning.

Carla and Eamon go on adventures across Ireland while heading to the wedding. But, don’t forget that Carla has one rule — do not fall in love.

Will they make it to the wedding in time? Will our favorites of books past make an appearance? (Spoiler, yes!) Will Carla break her own rule? Will Eamon ever travel?

I really liked this one. Carla and Eamon were likable and fun. They clearly got along as friends and had wonderful chemistry. I loved seeing old friends on the page. The new secondary characters were strong. Also, I enjoyed how the characters dealt with the struggles in their lives, especially Carla’s relationship with her father.

This is worth the read. Plus, the narrator was fantastic.
