I watched Sofia Coppola’s film Priscilla first and I was blown away at how true it was to this book!
Although Priscilla is a decent writer and summed up many aspects of her relationship with Elvis, I would have been interested to know more of her back story. Even touching more on Elvis’s backstory, though I understand it’s a memoir about her not him—but for instance, if I hadn’t watched Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis I wouldn’t have known who Colonel Parker was when Priscilla talks about him.
I was struck by how incredibly spoiled, emotionally erratic, and petulant Elvis was.

I gave this 5 stars because I enjoyed the writing style and storytelling of the book. It was compelling and I loved the way it unfolded. I listened to the audiobook and it was great to hear Priscilla's story in her own voice. It was a nice mix of dialogue and narration. However, the content itself was difficult to digest. It was hard to take in all the ways she was groomed and manipulated throughout her life. And she still doesn't seem to totally understand the exploitation herself while she spells it out blatantly with readers. Very thought-provoking and sad read.

Priscilla’s emotions while reading were endearing. Transitions between chapters were a little awkward and choppy. 3.5 stars
