Def a warning for SA within this book!! Graphic parts can feel emotionally heavy & triggering.

I loved the books writing style & how the characters connected. I liked not being able to recognize a pattern and guess the end. It throws you many ways.

I couldn’t put this book down. While super dark and challenging at times, Slaughter’s storytelling and attention to detail is unique and captivating. I liked that it was a different structure than most thrillers and didn’t follow the cliche pattern of some crazy twist at the ending but instead gradually built on the story throughout.

I would have DNFed because of all the overly explicit torture scenes but by then I was too far in. I don't understand why she felt the need to describe such explicit and horrific torture so many times (I think 4+ separate occasions?) and would have loved a warning

Normaal geen thriller fan, maar toch 'tussendoor' eens eentje vast gepakt. De eerste paar hoofdstukken 4 sterren, dan 3 omdat ik de 'main plot' snel doorhad, en dan weer 4 omwille van de spannende twists. Uiteindelijk toch een 3 omdat er wat mij betreft toch net te grafisch geschreven is, onnodig voor mij (check dus zeker de trigger warnings!). Wel een thriller die leest als een trein, vlot doorheen de verschillende POV's. Eentje die moeilijk weg te leggen is.
