This book is a heavy read. A very interesting, intense thriller story that had my heart racing, but was definitely quite disturbing at times. I found it a bit slow at first but it really picked up and got me hooked.

Quintessential juicy mom crime thriller. I mean this as a compliment. Scandalous to the last page and a very fun read.

The book held my interest, even though it was a little hard in the beginning, it was worth it to stick it out. The story is told from THREE POVs (I HATE that). Sam, Lidia, and Claire. Sam is writing letters to his missing daughter. It would have been helpful for me to understand beforehand that Lidia and Claire are sisters, Sam is their dad, writing to their missing sister.

The story ends up being unbelievable due to the fact that
Claire was married to an absolute monster for 18 years and she had no clue? Like, how dumb do you have to be? I will give props to the author that it was interesting to view that whole process as the reader, questioning Claire’s reality, and not knowing who to trust. The darkness in this book however is incredibly dark and disturbing. I had to fast forward through some parts and honestly wasn’t able to physically press the skip button as many times as I wanted.

I feel like that story would have been a little better in it had taken some different turns, like Paul was actually not the serial killer, and he wasn’t actually alive. I would have loved to finally have a reveal that Paul WAS really an amazing husband, but he was actually and undercover spy or CIA or FBI or something like that. That would have been way cooler imo.

Good book that I wish I hadn’t read and would never recommend to someone..

Well written and well narrated but as other reviewers have mentioned, straight up torture porn.

I’m far from prudish. But I wasn’t sure I was going to finish this one.
