This is my second Karin Slaughter book, my first was Blindsighted, the first in the Grant county series. And I thought thy book was dark but this book was even darker. The violence is described in full detail which was difficult to read and I understand it's not for some people. But I felt it hammers home the darkness and brutality that exists in the world. This is a slow paced thriller particularly at the start as it builds up the storyline. But that said it had me gripped from the beginning. Karin seems to be a very descriptive author and I love that. Some people don't like too much description and I get that but it really sucks me in. I felt I was in the book with the characters. It's very rare I read a book that's in third person and I wasn't sure if I would gel with it but I totally did. It's written so we jumo between the three protagonists, but it's not exactly their POV as us the case with most thriller books I've read. This made the writing style different, and I really enjoyed it. The plot was slightly unbelievable in parts but it all fit in well I felt. The ending was so satisfying to read and she tied up all the loose ends. And the epilogue had me crying my eyes out at 1am

This is so dark - SO dark like it made me nauseous at points but it was so well written and the plot was addicting - I don’t know if I loved the darkness of it but I loved the plot
