Outstanding. Very graphic and shocking at several points, but the graphicness (in my opinion) helps to shed full sun on the horrific crimes that women deal with all over the world every day. Slaughter's abrasive and confrontational style creates fully formed characters that have flaws, uncertainty, and who makes mistakes. This is incredibly refreshing, particularly in stories centered around women.

Such a dark and difficult story to read, but captured my attention. Despite being fiction, there is an undercurrent of truth about how people talk about sexual assault and violence against women, or many times the lack of conversation. Well written and surprising turns thought the entire novel.
