I’m not sure. I think maybe it just was not what I expected. To be fair I didn't read any synopsis, I just saw Emily Henry and thought “this should be funny and light and fun” and from the get-go it wasn’t.

Overall enjoyed but didn't love this YA take on Thelma and Louise.

I liked the portrayal of female friendship and how empowering and healing it can be, but this theme could have been explored a lot more in depth.

The abuse and abandonment experienced by the main characters is pretty harrowing. Definitely not a fluffy feel-good read.

This whole book feels like a bad fever dream and I don’t know how else to explain it

This was a lot of fun and kept me thoroughly engrossed. Certainly not the same vibes as Henry’s current books, but for a YA it was dark and twisty and gritty. There’s a lot of hope woven into a pretty tragic tale. Would recommend.

Not anything against the book I just am not a fan of most YA books and I thought I would try this one out before getting rid of it. However, I couldn't stand hardly any of the characters from what I did read. The father was atrocious and the brother was just as bad. Both were filled with unnecessary hatred and I just did not care anymore.

This book is fun and easy to read — the story moves quickly, and I really enjoyed the use of the girls’ current funds as a reminder of their position throughout the book. The ending was unsatisfactory, but in a way that made sense because the characters weren’t satisfied at the end of the story. Overall it works as a book, and was enjoyable to get through!
