I really hated their families, which I guess is the point. It’s obviously a story about friendship and choosing your own family, but wow some of these characters were so easy to hate! Overall, really interesting book - I couldn’t put it down!

Usually not a fan of dark or tense stories, but this one found just the right balance of adding in some levity right when it’s needed. The ending left me wanting one or two more chapters as it wrapped up quite suddenly. Overall it was an exciting read that pushed me out of my comfort zone!

This was a lot of fun and kept me thoroughly engrossed. Certainly not the same vibes as Henry’s current books, but for a YA it was dark and twisty and gritty. There’s a lot of hope woven into a pretty tragic tale. Would recommend.

I wanted to like this book, but somewhere around the halfway mark, I started to lose interest. Maybe it’s because of the theme (see summery), but the plot felt predictable and the character growth didn’t seem nearly as drastic as the narrator keeps telling us it was.
