A very quick and fun read; the quality of writing was better than the actual plot and where the book went with it but there were many razor-sharp instances of female friendship that I enjoyed (in particular the moment with Lucille and Sandy.) I did wish we got to see more of Lucille towards the end.

This is a fairly exhilarating/therapeutic reading experience, reading about two downtrodden and abused teenage girls seizing power and agency in their lives. Normally I would avoid books where the main characters steal or break laws, but this was written in a way that I was cheering for them the whole time. There is just enough frivolity to balance out the dark aspects of the story, such as when they eat candy and junk food all the time (how do they have the energy to do what they do when they haven’t had any real food? who knows?!). I love how the chapter titles kept track of how much money they had at each moment.
