Outstanding. While it took me a bit to get hooked, I then thought only of these characters as I went about my daily life. Each was so unique and fully-formed, and the story itself was intriguing.

 I have to say, it did take me a while to get fully hooked on this book. I don't find Richard (the protagonist and POV character) to be likeable at all. But once I fully got immersed into the story, I couldn't really put it down. I think the brilliance in the writing is that, even though the person who is telling the story is not necessarily likeable, the story itself is so good that you can't help but keep reading. And though most of the characters were deeply insufferable in the way only wealthy, white college kids can be, you actually feel for them. In the end, I only wished for the best for them. In my opinion, this book is definitely worth the hype it gets.

there was a solid 200 pages where the book was very good and engaging but after the first 200 pages i found it very difficult to keep reading. We don’t get to dive into the character very much and one of the only interesting characters gets killed off. the author drops random story lines then doesn’t progress them at all and they cease to exist which was very irritating for me as a reader. I like dark academia books but this one was a major let down for me.

I feel like this is a book I need to read twice. It is a slow read, but not a bad one. I just really needed to take my time reading every single detail. It was a long journey, but a rewarding one.
