I wanted to like this more! The only not-cis-men in this book are shitty homophobes or relatives or coworkers or clients or dates - why no friends/community?? Also as someone who was queer and minglin in 2013, there were a lot of conversations about IDing as butch and/or femme and/or androgynous (none here), and introductions involving pronouns were not commonplace at all (but are here), so the time setting feels off. I also wish we got to see more of the moment when Joel tells Charley she needs to DTR - the moment that causes this enormous rift between EVERYONE, a big turning point in the book - hearing about it afterwards felt super flat. I liked all the characters for the most part, especially Jay (wish they got more air time), and it was fun, but feels like it could have been really amazing and just wasn't.

This was ok, but I felt like the main character and her love interest fell into stereotypes (beyond a regular amount of ‘trope’ you expect going into a romance book). I don’t regret finishing this book, but I wouldn’t be quick to recommend it.

DNF at about 30%. I love the idea of the story, but it wasn't very well executed.

I thoroughly enjoyed this! Amy goes down quite the self-discovery journey, and I really liked that aspect of the story. I wasn’t a huge fan of Charley, but she had her moments. This book focuses a lot more on Amy’s journey rather than just the romance itself, so know that going in. That didn’t bother me though!

This book was super cute! I was looking for something lighthearted and hopeful, and it hit the spot.
At points it did feel a bit repetitive or like it dragged on. However, the friendships/found family were beautiful and I enjoyed the bits of humor sprinkled throughout.
The writing wasn’t anything exceptional, but I enjoyed my experience with this book overall.
