Oh how badly I wanted to be cool enough to say that I hated this book. I had taken one glance at that calligraphy and quickly convinced myself that I was going to be very annoyed by this practically unreadable book.

So turns out I was wrong. And surprise, surprise...it turns out I'm still not cool!

I had no problem reading the calligraphy, and it actually became charming and irreplaceable. The art/illustrations? Eternal swooning. The dialogue? Not always perfect and sometimes a little cliché but often just right.

"Tears fall for a reason and they are your strength not weakness.

"When have you been at your strongest?" asked the boy.
"When I have dared to show my weakness."

"What is the bravest thing you've ever said?" asked the boy.
"Help," said the horse.

If my heart was a glacier, this book would have quickly warmed it into a lukewarm puddle.
