Im gonna have to give it 5 stars. It had me screaming, crying, throwing up. I fear that an enemies to lovers couple has never gone this hard before. I am at a loss.

I thought this book was pretty good. I think the characters were both well developed and they were too reliant on what the reader wanted to happen so that after a certain point it felt unoriginal and bland, even the twists at the end became boring when you got them in quick succession. I read it for someone else, and thought it was okay.

Cassandra Clare has the unique ability to write the most frustrating endings and characters. I love them, but WHY can they just talk to each other?

This was definitely a better book than the first one, I think that with most of the worldbuiding out of the way, she was able to focus on what she is best at, the relationships. Conor and Kel continue to he the heart of the story, and I liked their respective romances more this time around.

Lin story grew on me a lot and I liked y
the new path that the author set out for her.

The plot, while better executed than in The Sword Catcher, still has some holes that sometimes were hard for me to ignore, like, for example and without spoilers, the choice that Lin had to make consequence of a stupid decision that she made earlier have her choosing between been a little humiliated and unable to help her friend for a while OR literally being exciled and not being able to help her friend forever. And she was hesitating because of plot reasons. I understand why she made the initial stupid mistake, but why she stand by that so long was beyond me.

But honestly I enjoyed this book quite a pot until the las quarter. I know we need to have a dramatic ending, but lately, Cassandra has a way of executing them in an extremely frustrating way. I think because she doesn't allow their characters to explode and end the misinformation curse even at the very end, so as a reader, I keep eating for an explosion that never comes. Even if the result is bad, I want them to scream at each other from time to time!!! But she doesn't let them, they just coldly confront each other and then leave without saying out loud all that they should say. And AGAIN, I know that having secrets is part of the point, but by the end that should end, dont leave it for the next book!!!

Anyway 3.5 or 4 stars, I could not say until I calmed myself. I will think about it while I wait for the next installment.

This was amazing, so much happened and I love how complicated and imperfect everything is. So many things going wrong, but in a good way or rather at least in a way that doesn't feel like some stupid bs contrived to push everyone apart. The ending was so exciting and I can't wait for the next book!

Loved the build-up to the plot twists that I didn't see coming (but an astute reader could pick up on!) to the slow burn character relationships (although I found Conor's character to be the most difficult to really understand). The world building was immersive and built upon the first book beautifully. Looking forward to book 3 asap!

Swordcatcher was a slow burn for me but I was completely captivated by the ragpicker king! Can’t wait for the next instalment. The twists, the pace, the magic!
