Ahhh T Kingfisher you've done it again. A sweet story with humour and softness and cozy goodness. She's firmly falling into the same part of my bookshelf as Becky Chambers and Travis Baldree, cozy, cottage-core stories that warm the heart and paste a wee smile on your lips. Good times.

Loved it. I wish this book was available when I was the target audience; it would have had a big impact. I loved the theme around heroism being necessary due to the failure of others.

Ridiculous, funny and cute. Written more for children, middle grade-esque but, still features important themes like personal growth, questioning the government, and disappointment in your leaders.
In true T. Kingfisher fashion, there are even bone animals.

I adored this book. It was unlike anything I’ve ever read. The characters were wonderful, the world so fleshed out it felt like you were really in it and there were as many twists and turns in the story as there were in the alleys in the kingdom of the story itself. I loved Bob and the gingerbread man and it was so much fun to have a story about a girl who knows what she wants, begrudgingly accepts the role of hero while always knowing she shouldn’t have to but in the end still being true to herself. Absolute treat of a book. Really does make me want to bake though…
