This had its ups and downs
I thought it started out strong with such a steamy moment between the two MCs

And then I was invested in how their reunion would be, and from the moment they meet again it felt lack luster.
So I struggled a bit, BUT!!! There are lots of redeemable moments through out the book. I liked it over all, the mafia world building is comfortable to understand.
I like the writing and plan to read more of the authors newer works.

Honestly, this is something I would like when I first dive into mafia romances. But I have nothing to say about this book. I was so interested in the synopsis. There are many good elements in it. However, as soon as I read the first five chapters, I was turned off.

Asher and Lucy’s first meeting was cliché. It was an insta-love kind of thing, which I don’t mind. What I didn’t like was everything became predictable. With Asher being rich and Lucy coming from a complicated life, I thought it should have more emotions. The story lacked plot twists. I hardly connect with Asher and Lucy.

Another thing is Lucy’s friend, Aimee. I didn’t like her from the beginning. She suggested Lucy flirt with Asher. She didn’t even try to listen to Lucy’s concern about being “targeted” for what she did.

One good this is the moments that connect Asher and Lucy. Some moments were interesting and added challenge to them. It strengthens their relationship.

Overall, I skim-read 60% of the story. But I am still aware of what happened in it. For me, there’s nothing special about this book
