I found it a quite challenging read. Perhaps it was just how bizarre the moral dissonance was, perhaps it's just not for me.
The writing is easy to read and the haikus were quite wonderful. I really did enjoy learning more about haikus and seeing how powerful a collection of them could be - i think that's a really special treat that comes out of this book.
But I just could not shake how difficult it was romanticising such a problematic character that didn't really acknowledge enough how much of a problem the situation was. The ending really ties things together in a way that I didn't expect and yet I feel so empty having finished this story.
