Maybe my expectations were set too high, after reading Walsh's stunning debut novel, 'My Sunshine Away', but this earlier set of semi-linked stories just didn't excite me. I have a low tolerance for 'whimsy' and that seemed to be the operative mode in which most of these worked. Plus, the copy-editing on this was shockingly abysmal, even for a small University press.
