Good book, unique magic system, but a simple and straightforward plot. Tim Curry narrated the audiobook and was great.

I very much enjoyed this book. A great adventure with an interesting vision for magic that feels real and its use has consequences. Exciting, complex characters but I had a difficult time connecting emotionally with anyone. Definitely recommend to lovers of adventure and fantasy.

I’d been aware of Sabriel since the late 90s and it had always come highly recommended. Not sure why it’s taken me 25+ years to get to it, but I’m glad I finally did. It’s fantastic. I have a couple of minor quibbles, but overall I loved this book from cover to cover. Don’t wait on it like I did, especially if you’re a fantasy reader.
