Thought-provoking

I don't know that I'd use the word enjoyable to describe this book, but I do recommend it for most. My wife, as one example, would not enjoy enjoy this book at all and probably would not finish it. At times, it's a tough read in the sense that it elicits strong sympathies for the main character who has severe mental handicaps and a mother who is both cruel and self-serving. It's a reminder that life is far from fair, and there is a lot of cruelty in this world. The story truly is thought-provoking and worth the time.

"I don't know what's worse: to not know what you are and be happy, or to become what you've always wanted to be, and feel alone."

Heart-wrenching. Sometimes, when you are the one experimenting, it is very easy to forget what goes beyond what you do. And sometimes, when you are alone, it is very hard to forget when you weren't. Oh, the complexity of the human mind.
