Such an impactful story about friendship, survival, and growth that centers and celebrates queer identity without it being the entire plot.
This book was such a gripping read, I finished it in two days. Extremely cathartic, but do be aware there are some graphic sa flashbacks. My one complaint is that there may have been one or two too many side characters. I did have to flip back and forth between chapters to remind myself of certain names.
Such an enjoyable book reminding us that growth is inevitable, and not always easy, but it can shape us into happier better people.

First read of 2024!

Will be processing this one in therapy (thank god for therapy). Old Enough is the book I wish I’d had at 14, 17, 21… The queer validation I didn’t know I needed even as I am in my safe, happy, queer relationship. Tears were absolutely shed - over love, in mourning, and for the beauty of the expansiveness of queer identity and experience. Thank you for writing this book, Haley.

this is not a bad book at all, it just wasn't for me. the relationships between the characters is easily the best part of the book, and savannah's journey of healing and self-discovery was very touching and well-done. i'm not sure why, but i didn't LOVE it. i definitely think this book has its audience that will adore it, but i am not a member of that audience.

ok i cried!!!!! loved sav so much, truly everything about her narration. this is a book that knows exactly what it wants to share: where it zooms in and focuses, where it gestures vaguely, where it leaves you behind. simply everything about sav and izzie's relationship killed me. i was happy for her. i believed she was happy for me too. or that she would be one day. because i think the promises that we made to each other were never really about weddings or forevers. they were about a commitment to each other. a commitment to each other's joy. i think we both believed that joy could not exist without us being together, but we're old enough now to know otherwise. DEVASTATING!
