All I can say is I was mad when I read this when it came out. Now I can appreciate it for the anti-war masterpiece that it is.

This book was harder for me to read (mainly because the series ended in a way I did not expect). The author has explained in a letter to the fans at the end why things ended the way they do, and it makes sense, but I had spent so long thinking about the title in advance. The beginning... of life after the war? I had hoped for some Ellimist/time travel shenanigans prompting a start over of "the game" but it did not turn out that way.

Perfection.

I hear complaints over the ambiguous ending sometimes, but honestly I love it and couldn't have written it better myself. What a wild, nostalgic series from my childhood.

The end of the series. I can see now why people are upset about the ending. The author basically set up a 2nd set of adventures and then stopped.
I don't mind though. This book is interesting because after the first few chapters I was like why haven't we stopped, and now I know. Have I mentioned that I don't like Marco?

The first half was quite good, but I think Applegate was eager to just wrap things up after churning out 62 books in this franchise, and it shows. The second half is sparse. Quite a disappointing ending considering how much I'd enjoyed the last few books.
