This book started out with Baldacci's most sinister plot yet. There were a lot of different elements and there was just enough creepy foreshadowing to grab my interest immediately. Unfortunately, as the story progressed, it got more and more unbelievable. I enjoyed the subplot with Michelle's family, because it contributed to her character development. Aside from King, Maxwell, and Willa, however, the rest of the characters were either caricatures or just unlikeable, again in a fairly unbelievable way. There was some potential here, and there is still entertainment value, but I was disappointed.
Pretty good - a page turner, for sure. I had a huge chunk of the plot figured out at page 200 of 440, so either I'm getting good, or these favorite authors of mine are getting tired. I asked my dad at that half way point if I was right on, and he said I was, but it was still fun to see how Baldacci got to the end.
