What a ride. I couldn’t put this book down and read it in one go. The story is intriguing and there are so many plot twists. I loved it.

Former Secret Service, now private investigators, sent on a mission to find the kidnapped niece of the First Lady and uncover a tangled web of secrets. WAY into it. Plus, one of the leads being a badass lady helps.

Mom loves the Baldacci books, but this is the first one I've read (because she brought it to me insisting I'd like it) and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

One of his better books. I liked the character development, and the plot, while a bit predictable, was pretty good.

'First Family' may be the fourth in the Maxwell / King series by David Baldacci but it was the first I read …. and loved!

My short review and recommendation - if you like crime / thrillers, packed with twists and turns, likeable (and not-so likeable) characters then stop what you are doing and get your hands on a copy of this book!

For those new to reading or book-shy, do not be put off by the considerable size of this novel. It’s easy-to-read, fast-flowing, entertaining and will have you gripped by the end of the first chapter.

In fact, my only complaint is that, being so engrossed by the tale and conclusion, I rushed the final chapters instead of savouring each page until the final outcome.

Entertaining, enjoyable and highly recommended. Will be purchasing this as gifts for the foreseeable future!

First Family is the fourth installment in the King and Maxwell series. Sean King and Michelle Maxwell were both members of the secret service and now run their own private investigation firm. This time around they are hired by the First Lady to help find her twelve-year-old niece, Willa, who was kidnapped from her home. On the surface it appears to be a plot against the president, who is well on his way to reelection.

Shortly into their investigation into Willa's disappearance, Michelle receives a phone call from one of her brothers. Her mother passed away unexpectedly. After a brief examination of the scene of death, Michelle begins to wonder if foul play may have been involved. She calls Sean and they begin looking into her mother's case in addition to Willa's.

The closer Sean and Michelle get to uncovering the truth, the more resistance they receive from the First Lady. She says her number one priority is returning Willa to her family safely, but that doesn't appear to be her only motivation for hiring Sean. The two have known each other for years and it becomes clear that she is banking on that friendship once again.

Pretty good story but seriously did not need them to hook up on the very last page - so dumb.

This one was a good read. Quick. The ending made me think about how I view the world and my opinion on the roles of men and women.

A little disappointed with this one

Having read and enjoyed the King Maxwell books I was a little disappointed with this one, it is definitely the weakest of the series. Whilst some of the characters are lovely and well written it is not one I would read again
