So drawn out. Could have been so much shorter. Lots of unnecessary details that don't have anything to do with the main story.

Interesting story but many details were completely irrelevant to the narrative. I don’t care at all about the side characters personal and family history. It just seemed like fluff in order to write a longer book.
I’ll admit to not being a huge fan of the time period that this book encompasses. It’s entirely too fussy and stuck between the old and modern worlds. But, this book illuminates a story that I’m sure few people knew about. It held my interest and was enjoyable throughout.
I wouldn’t call this a “must read” by any means, but it was a well written and well researched account of the tumultuous life of Alexander Hamilton’s great-grandson. Definitely interesting and I quite liked it.

This is a true story about a scandal that happened in the late 1800s that involved Robert Ray Hamilton, a descendent of Alexander Hamilton, and his wife. The scandal part, which happens at the beginning of the book, was the most interesting part. Then it veers off into the court case and other things that were going on and that wasn't as interesting to me. I listened to a podcast about this book and I think that the podcast was probably enough to listen to, to get the best parts of the book. How the author found out about the story was pretty interesting.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Being a history buff and a lover of a good scandal, this book was thoroughly entertaining read. Well written and well researched, and including headlines and court documents, this one is not to be missed!
