That said, it's a fun romp and adventure. Reads like it would make a killer screen adaptation. Hollywood, please produce this.
Moderate: Blood, Violence, Animal death, Pandemic/Epidemic, Injury/Injury detail, and Cursing
Minor: Alcohol, Murder, Death, and Animal cruelty

Scalzi is definitely back to form after the somewhat disappointing Interdependency series. This had some great fantasy/wish fulfillment going on. I could kind of see this getting turned into a film or a TV series.
Moderate: Injury/Injury detail, Animal death, Blood, Death, Pandemic/Epidemic, Gun violence, Body horror, Cursing, and Violence

The book is set with COVID as a backdrop for the beginning of it, but the pandemic isn't the main focus of the book and once we get to the kaiju part, COVID doesn't actually matter at all. This is the perfect kind of contemporary fiction for me right now: something that doesn't ignore current events, and yet also legitimately doesn't dwell on them or make me need to remember them. It's a perfect example of escape fiction in all the best ways.
Moderate: Cursing
Minor: Gun violence
