3.75 stars.

I loved how everything written in this book blended well (the story, the writing, the characters, the "twist"). Overall, Insomnia is a really good read but I wasn't really impressed by the "shocking twist" because I already guessed it at a point lol.
That epilogue? Really nice!

3.5/5 rounded to 4.

My expectations were higher and it didn’t deliver.
I had many issues throughout the book cause I got the feeling that it had zero idea what it really wanted to be.

If I have to read one more time how the main character is thinking she’s going crazy or mad I swear I’m gonna lose it.
Too many repetitions.
Almost all of the characters come across as bipolar depending on the chapter and the tone the author wants to set each time. They don’t have core attributes, there’s no character development. Even the kids are so hot and cold all the time, they don’t make any sense.
And don’t get me started about how authors use pregnancies as a way to "save" an already crumbling relationship. This shit pisses me off enough in real life, I don’t want to also read about it.

Add to all of the above, the fact that ending and the big reveal were the most wtf moments in a long while and the sad attempt to try and explain the unexplainable just screamed laziness.

Overall, the rating could definitely be lower but I’m being generous because I read it so fast and was curious to see the revelation even tho I was sadly disappointed.

A great creepy read with an unexpected twist! A perfect book to start my 2023 reading year. I'll definitely be checking out more books by this author-her writing draws you in and she isn't afraid to push her characters. Highly recommend if you enjoy creepy stories involving psychology and asking all the what ifs.
