As someone who does not read true crime, this book was incredibly compelling, and an interesting read from beginning to end. I became as invested in the hunt for "the responsible" as I was in Michelle and her impeccable narration. Her attention to detail is impeccable, her empathetic yet honest storytelling is unmatched. At times, the book was slow to read-it is chocked full of details. I am not a fan of true crime, and I do not particularly plan on reading true crime in the future. However, the book is a must-read for those interested in getting into true crime, or interested in a one-off true crime read.

There's a lot of details in this book that showcase not just the crimes and the person that committed them but the very actions of everyone involved over the years, and McNamara's unflinching search for the truth.
I am saddened to know that she had passed prior to being able to witness the capturing of the killer that stalked her waking hours but this book showcases the depth and investigative reporting that really made her shine and to realize that this was the last thing she worked on is spectacular to read.
