While the concept and delivery were light and fun, I found it so preposterous in both concept, timing, and believability that it was hard to accept. The spice was great, but also so out of place for the time period in many moments. The fact that the female counterpoint to an Earl was constantly referred to as a Duchess instead of Countess really bothered me, because it was such an easy mistake to catch and fix. It was a fun read, but it didn't leave me ready to read the rest of the series.

Great romance with a strong, feisty, kniving heroine. (A bit too feisty for my taste, but good if you appreciate games) Ended briskly but with resolution. Not R-rated, but goes well beyond chaste kisses.
