I love a well-structured nonfiction book for kids. "Do Lizards Eat Ice Cream?" explores the ways different animals keep cool in the summer. It's formatted as a question-and-answer, and the questions seem silly enough that you'd think each answer would be "no" but they trick you with some odd yeses! Not only will I recommend this book to kids, I'll use it in displays and in story time. The language is early reader appropriate. The words and pictures are both hilarious. I love this book!

This was such a great read for my four and eight year old. Both loved seeing some of their favorite animals and the new fun facts about all of the animals. I loved the flow and set up of this book, which left a good opportunity for the my daughters to get involved as well.

I think this book would do wonderfully in a classroom setting and especially for kids who are interested in learning more about animals! Thank you so much for this ARC that I was able to enjoy and share with my daughters. We already can't wait to add this book to our shelves.

I can't imagine that I ever wondered how animals beat the heat, but for those who have, this is an excellent picture book explaining it in terms that kids can understand. No Lizards don't eat ice cream to cool down. They actually dance, to move cooler hair under their bellies, and cool their feet.

And kangaroos lick their arms to keep cool, because they can't sweat.

And musk oxen shed their coats when it gets too hot.

Cut way to teach kids about animals in ways that relate to what they know.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

The cover alone is adorable, let alone the great story Etta Kaner presents in Do Lizard Eat Ice Cream?

This book shows us the many ways animals keep themselves cool to beat the summer heat! Like ostriches wearing flip flops and lizards eating ice cream! Unfortunately (or fortunately, I guess, depending on if you wanted comedy or non-fiction), you get the actual answers to how animals keep cool! So no ice cream for our lizard buddies, instead they dance!

I think this book is cute and smart - not only does it present some goofy ideas with funny pictures, but it gives us some teachable moments too. I can really appreciate a book that can mix the non-fiction goodness of learning and some silly pictures!

Overall, this book is a really great addition to your picture book shelf! It's fun, educational and colourful!

Four out of five stars!

Thank you to NetGalley and OwlKids for giving me an opportunity to read this book!

This books tells us how animals cool down in a funny way that is entertaining which makes it accessible to children. The first idea is how we would cool down but then we learn how they actually do cool down in ways I wouldn't have imagined. Well done!

I requested and received an e-ARC of this book from Etta Kaner and Owlkids Books through NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was a fun non-fiction book that explains how animals beat the heat. As each new animal is introduced you are asked a funny question like "Do lizards eat ice cream?" The question is then answered with the facts about how the animal cools itself down. I think kids will enjoy learning these facts as they are delivered in a fun way with great illustrations.

This is a cute, easy to read nonfiction title. It is great to start to explain the concepts of how animals deal with hot climates and how that might relate to how we deal with hot weather. The question and answer format are great for younger readers who are curious but might not be able. to understand big concepts. I do wish there was a bibliography at the end or any sort of endpapers so kids and adults can see where the information came from or how to get more information about a particular animal.
