The writing seemed underdeveloped, especially when it came to pacing and timing of how information about the characters was introduced. In particular, the dissatisfaction that the MC was feeling was full blown from the start, but just kept getting repeated so that it made her come across as bratty and selfish, when more texture and variety of her internal world would have made her much more sympathetic. I also thought the house had a surprisingly small role for a book that made its title about it.

The main character appeared to face and reface similar obstacles within herself and her growth was a roller coaster ride, tho i suppose that's how real life growth is. It was difficult to relate to the mc, but she's also a child. I expected more consistency in the mc and her gradual learning, but it took this character LOTS of trial and error to get to where she got.
