Very easy read! It has a lovely and warm adventure of marinka. I found the story relatable since she was being forced down a path where she's not sure if she wants that. And lastly, I want a house like that.
This was a fun read. It kept me interested and I really liked the main character and her grandmother. It gave me serious Moana vibes, which I liked. There were a few bombs dropped that I felt like weren’t foreshadowed as well as they could have been, but, as it was written for children, I could look past that and I enjoyed it.

Such a fun take on baba yaga, this was a delight to read. I would have loved to read this aloud to my kids when they were elementary aged.

Interesting and thought-provoking middle grade novel. It doesn't carry much of the original Baba Yaga lore with it, but instead took the house and made it a whole new story.

This was beautifully written, and I’m a total nerd for the extra illustrations throughout the book! I can’t say I had a problem with it but I did feel it was for a much younger audience, which is my own fault for just picking it up for having a pretty cover without looking what it’s about.
I really wanted to love this story but it felt so repetitive due to the immaturity of the main character, maybe a little to YA for me?
This was a fun and unique fantasy that had a perfect mixture of of humor, sadness, and heart. The quirky elements reminded me of a Road Dahl story, and was a pleasure to read. There are lots of great a great topics of discussion and would also be a great story for kids dealing with the loss of a loved one. Highly recommend for grades 3+!
