And the gold medal in carrying grudges goes to... the lady Mary! Honestly, she sometime comes across as so unreasonable that it's plain annoying. Except when it comes to Throckmorton, then she is the voice of reason, and queen Katharine is incredibly stubborn and naive.

Even though I know how this story is going to end, the last chapters of this book had me riveted to the pages. It is exciting, and very well written. How easily the king is swayed is shocking, Margot Points' loyalty is moving. And I would never have believed that my sympathy would ever lay with king Henry, but in the last chapter, it did. That alone makes the book deserve it's four stars.

And queen Katharine's exit; that is stone cold. Your Majesty, I salute thee.
