Sadly, I read the abridged version of this book because I did not know that there exist unabridged and abridged versions of a book. Stupid me lol.
Still, I can see why this classic has survived almost 200 years. Will read the "unabridged" version of 1300+ pages one day. And that version will probably get a 5 star rating.

I must say that for an abridged work, the one isn't half bad. I did, however, feel that there were some essential details left out, but that is true with any abridgment. Definitely a great story and after having read both abridged and unabridged, it really doesn't matter which you choose, just so long as you read it.

This is my all-time favorite book. I've read it at least 15 times. This book has something to offer to absolutely anyone that can read -- revenge, romance, betrayal, loyalty, friendship, political intrigue, history, etc. The cast of characters is unforgettable and well developed. The depth and breadth of the revenge plot in this book is unprecedented and unmatched. I wrote a paper on this book for my Revenge Literature class in college. Whenever I have been dissatisfied with recent books and need something really great to fall back on, I pick this book up again and love it just as much.
