I loved both these plays! I really should get more into reading modern plays, they seem to always exceed my expectations.
The first one, The Memory of Water, was my favourite of the two. I loved how normal it is. It reminds me of Ibsen plays, very real, very down to earth, but with very big themes. The characters were also very well written, an excellent balance of flawed and loveable.
Five Kinds of Silence is a lot more creative, might I say 'avante garde', in style. It really served the plot well though. I liked that the show is essentially a big circle since the flashback-style monologues and the girls' recounting of the events eventually leads the end of the play to reveal the moment before the opening of the play. I also of course love that the themes are big and they're dealt with well.
