A decent - if somewhat shallow - start to this series. I’m drawn to the main characters and the developing conflict. Looking forward to the next!

Likes
The characters didn't find each other physically attractive right away. They were attracted by the mind of the other person first. I loved that first meeting when they met, not knowing they were each other's betrothed. They definitely built up a strong friendship before they got physical.
I enjoyed the banter between them. They would insult each other and make each other laugh, for example, joking that the other was ugly.
Dislikes
There is a gross part with a scarpatine inside a pie. It's like a scorpion. Towards the end of the book it does get a little dark as it describes the injuries Brishen suffered.

I was smitten with the first 50 pages, easy 5 star. After that it became a lot of telling instead of showing, I want to experience the moments not hear about them in past tense as something that happened 3 days ago.
