the romance seemed cute and all in the beginning
but that’s all this book has to offer. i figured out that the plot was going absolutely no where, like no where at all. There was nothing else to this story, no problems beside them thinking each other is ugly. The romance wasn’t interesting enough to keep my interest bc there weren’t any problems between them either. they may have found each other ugly but they liked each other and were friends since the second they met. there’s literally no problems

This was a really cute story - the progression of the romance was enjoyable to follow.

I think the book could have used a little more bite in places. Both main characters are a little too perfect and the Kai and humans don't seem to have very many cultural differences to create friction. I appreciate that Brishen and Ildiko didn't have any miscommunication regarding jealousy or sex or anything like that, but some culture clashes to cause misunderstandings could have been amusing, as well as fleshing out the Kai into more than nocturnal humans with sharp teeth and claws.

I appreciate a cozy story and this was almost that, except the climax, ending, and sequel novels make it clear that this is not the intention of the author.  Given that, I would have like more depth and worldbuilding.

The ending has a pretty good hook for setting up the rest of the story. I'm curious about the next books - not necessarily enough to immediately go pick up the next installment, but enough that I'll probably get around to them eventually.

OMG OMG OMG. I absolutely loved this book it was just wow. I know it took me a long time to read it but you know I was kinda in a reading slump and then I started reading other books and forgot about this book and then I saw it on my desk and what do you know I pick it back up and then I fell in love. But whatever let's get on to the actual book. Firstly Brishen he is amazing he is such a strong leader and so freaking funny I love how he is with Ildiko it a match made in heaven. Don't even get me started on Brishens mom Secmis I think that's how you spell her ugly name she is some type of evil and omg what she did at the end that power hungry B*. This book is such a slow burn romance and omg once they like cave in fireworks, omg I could feel the sparkes through the page. I love the thing with potatoes at the wedding and the Kai were trying to eat it. I overall love the writing. The only problem I have with this book is that I wanted to hear more of Anhuset and Serovek and I wanted more of their love to blossom. Anyway loved it totally recommend it but be prepared to enter a world of fantasy love and the hilarious Ildiko (I love her witty remarks).

Not my type of story seems like a friends to lovers thing. Very slow

It’s a great book, the plot is good and the growth of the character’s relationship feels natural. I liked the world building, it was easy to pick up and seems like there could be a lot more to uncover. Just started the second book.

5⭐
This was honestly so refreshing. This book made me realise why I like friends to lovers trope so much.
