Something special
This first book was absolutely what I needed. The strength of the character development and slow burn pacing was truly *chef’s kiss*. Nothing too crazy in the plot but that just let’s you focus on the heart and soul of the book - two unlikely people finding love with each other. Excited to read book 2.

I really liked this! I was hesitant because I don't normally dip my toe this far into the fantasy world but I'm glad I did. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in this series. Thanks, Ms. Draven!
Enjoyed the much more plausible both find each other hideous initially rather than the standard beauty and the beast trope.

Ugh I love these two. (Wraith king #1) My first fantasy, and the sweet friendship to romance with mutual trust and respect was perfection. Had me chuckling out loud, and I liked that there was world building, but not overly descriptive. I definitely got a little bored at some points, but their companionship is why I love this book.

It's a 3.5
I loved the interaction between the characters, loooved how their relation develops and quite liked the world building.
Something is missing though, for me to be able to say the book deserves 4 stars, however I can't quite pin point what specifically

Breath of fresh air. 100% recommend for one of the most healthy and sweetest relationship portrayals I’ve seen in fantasy romance genre.

This was... surprisingly good! This is one of the rare romances I've read where the conflict is exclusively outside the couple. Brishan and Ildiko get along the moment they meet, though both are from wildly different cultures and...races*? They both are considered expendable in their own worlds and unite to build a home in spite of the danger swirling around them, growing from friendship to romance as the story progresses.
Cliffhanger ending was a bit jarring but fit the character and made me want to read the second.
(* Brishan seems to be part of a group of dark elves that aren't actually called elves within the book and are far more menacing. This race, and the world building in general, is really thought through. I loved every bit of it.)
