This came to me from Book of the Month club (https://www.bookofthemonth.com/).
I liked it - it was fun, it was original, and the protagonist's arc was engaging and emotional without being overwrought or a symbol for the human condition.

The first half of this book was great, wasn’t as keen on the second half as it became sort of random. A fun, quick read though.

Adorable! Now I want to bake bread. Or eat bread. Probably just eat bread.

It’s a little silly but the audiobook was perfect for a long road trip

Quirky.
For the first third of the book I was very much in to it, from Lois' working environment at the tech company to her discovery of the special spicy soup and bread. But the pace slowed a bit once she was accepted to sell her bread at an experimental futuristic farmers market. It picked up again once she started to learn about the origins of her sour dough starter and meet with others who were familiar with it. The sour dough started alone was a fascinating living creature and the ending was unexpected.
I can't say I really enjoyed the book once it veered off in to the futuristic farmers market. I just couldn't really figure out where it was going. That said I'm sure there are many people who would find this book fascinating and it's certainly very readable.

This started out great and then went a bit Young-Adult, with a few too many "Awesome's", predictable twists and "This person is basically perfect"'s thrown it. But good fun, and definitely made me want to start baking!
