I really loved this book. It draws comparison to how we each go through own personal seasons, sometimes energetic and alive (summer) and other times retreating in solitude (winter). As someone who struggles with depression thats often exacerbated over winter, it feels reassuring to think of
it in this way and to think of our bodies as being in-tune to this natural process. I think it's easy to forget how naturally in sync our bodies are with the natural world.

It's a collection of stories, spanning across seasons, often inspired by nature and how humans/other living creatures are resilient in overcoming some of natures challenges. I took my time reading it and saved some chapters for the specific month it was at the time. Id like to think its the kind of book i'll go back to every year when I start to struggle with the colder, darker days and looking for a bit of positive inspiration to aid the hibernation process over winter.

This was so well written. A love letter to both winter and the natural cycle of highs and lows in our lives. As an allegory of winter for weathering the difficult times in our lives, I don’t know that it necessitates a whole book to make that point. But at no point did this drag on or feel boring. I really enjoyed it!

This is one of those moments where I stumbled upon the right book at the right moment in my life.

What a salve for a wounded soul! Such a personal and genuine observation of the human experience in the darker times of life that we tend to shy away from or look on with shame. So uplifted and feeling validated in my current period of wintering.
