I found this book to be fine. I wanted to like it more, but it felt repetitive of much of the other things I have read and within itself. I also found that this book felt like it was a marketing product, and the authors at times spoke in a patronizing way, spoke because I listened to the audio, read by the authors. I felt like it was just buzz word buzz word buzz word, or our new term again and again and again and the examples were limited and it just did not feel practical or useful or nearly as useful as I wanted it to be.

I have read a number of parenting books, and it's a genre that is all over the place. Often you get advice so philosophical it can't be put into practice, sometimes it's too harsh, sometimes it makes parents into the children's friends instead of their teachers. This book was full of logical explanations that made sense and can be applied to numerous parenting styles. It is honestly one of my favorite parenting books so far, and I have used the advice I read here many times.

A compelling deep dive into empathy and connection. I believe this book would be beneficial, not only for parents, but for anyone looking to create positive outcomes in the challenging aspects of their personal relationships.

Helpful information, but kind of wordy. I felt like the book could have been shorter - some things were repeated several times.

As I said, it did give my some information that will be helpful. I like some of the goals are to increase empathy and insight in children. But as some of the other reviews stated - the examples almost always ended with the child admitting they did wrong and actively/easily participating. The REDIRECT section was helpful. It is similar to a lot of parent’s information books/aspects I’ve read.

Great concepts but may be more difficult to put into practice. I would have liked more practical examples. The big take away is that discipline is relational and it is important to connect with your child on their level.

My favorite parenting book to be honest.
