Algú ha escrit en una review: "Each kiss on the street corner tastes sweeter with freedom". I no ho podria dir millor.

D'alguna manera el llibre va sobre l'esperança, sobre caure més avall del que pensaves que podies i encara aconseguir remuntar, però alhora anant en contra de la individualització del patiment i acceptant que els que deixen de lluitar molts cops és perquè no poden més. Però em deixa molt desesperançada.

L'autora escriu en segona persona a les notes de l'edició del 10è aniversari: "What year is it now, as you read them? What has been won; what has been lost? I can’t see from here; I can’t predict. But I know this: You are experiencing the impact of what we in the movement take a stand on and fight for today. The present and past are the trajectory of the future". I han canviat moltes coses, no ho oblidem, tots els pòdcasts lesbofeministes ens ho recorden en un intent de resistir les noves onades d'odi. Però no ho sé. El futur brillant que imaginen la Jess i el Duffy se'm representa cada cop més borrós.

this book truly broke my heart and mended it at tge same time.
this helped me have a better understanting of our history and of myself, too. i cried in so many ocassions throughout the book as i felt seen, understood—also as i understood. i felt angry so many times, too. however the injustice, as dishearting as it is, will never overshadow the tenderness and unity.
 there's always hope us, we aren't alone in this lifetime.
