I’ve never felt so seen in a book. It’s both chilling and an honor to hear about the lives of our Queer and Trans elders, and reminds me that despite our horrifying current political landscape it’s a privilege that I am able to access HRT and be myself.

A well written story of working class transgender experience. One of the aspects that I loved about this book is the historical information that is offered within its setting and characters of U.S. gay, lesbian, bi, trans, drag, queer communities existing roughly around the time of and leading up to the Stonewall uprising. Infused with politics via the characters, this story offers information and lessons regarding trans experience (for example, the dangers trans people face on a day to day level) without leaving characters one-dimensional via the violence they experience. Refreshing, as well, to read a book so steeped in labor politics and struggles. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in a story laced with the above mentioned themes/histories: it will keep you reading!
