First and foremost, it is important to remember that this is Fan Fiction. It is well written, well thought out, well plotted, but still fan fiction. Mr Lippert has taken his own ideas of "what comes next" in the world of Harry Potter and put it to paper. He is obviously a writer outside of these stories as they are well crafted, well written, and not full of grammatical errors (one of my biggest pet peeves on fan fiction most of the time).

Mr Lippert is very clear that he owes a great deal to JK Rowling for creating the magical world of Harry Potter and the characters within this world. He has just taken his own idea of what happened next and put them to paper for all share.

This first of 3 stories about Harry and Ginny's son James is interesting, with a solid story line that is in the same feeling of the Harry Potter stories, set in a familiar world of Hogwarts. Mr Lippert tries to stay true to what Ms Rowling has already revealed about the world of Harry Potter.

Mr Lippert makes no bones that this is fan fiction, so he may not stay true to cannon for all those die hard fans, but has set out to write for himself (and others who want to read it) his own ideas. What he does best is when he writes for characters either briefly mentioned in the Harry Potter series or characters he has introduced for his own story telling. James Potter is an interesting character and as this first book went on, he became more of a fleshed out, well rounded character. His friends Ralph and Zane are fun and bring that sense of that Harry, Ron, and Hermione had, without duplicating it exactly. Where this story stumbles a bit is when he is writing for Harry, Ginny, or really any character heavily featured in the Harry Potter series. And this is, I think, for obvious reasons. Ms Rowling knows these characters best, she has their voice so a part of her that to have someone else write for them is never quite the same. That is not to say that Mr Lippert writes these characters poorly, they are just not the same ones we have grown to love (or hate) through Ms Rowling's writing. When he is writing for the characters he has introduced for this story, these are done very well, with a true voice coming through, and developing their own identies as characters.

So, now I am off to read the second of the James Potter stories. Intrigued and becoming more invested in these new characters.

Det bästa är utan tvekan Teddy Lupin. Det var även kul att få återvända till Hogwarts.

I'm trying to have an open mind about this series. Mostly I'm just glad to have the familiar HP setting back...i guess we'll see.
Aaaand..I can't get into it...back on the shelf.

I could easily come up with complaints about this book, easily. But i am reminding myself that JK did not write it. To be honest i completely enjoyed this book. I love that grawp found him a girlfriend :) And i thought the portrayal of Neville was great! Although i think the intro wasn't extremely relevant, i was extremely sucked in. I squeeled, laughed, bit my nails... You should definitely give it a go. Interested to see what happens in the next one!

An unauthorised but inventive sequel to JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series, G Norman Lippert’s James Potter has a different voice and a different tone that somehow still captures the magic and imagination of Hogwarts and it’s beloved characters.

A new adventure, in familiar halls, James Potter and the Hall of Elders Crossing changes things up at Hogwarts - Grawp’s got a girlfriend, American wizards in flying cars are visiting, house elf’s have a coalition agreement and there is a new danger to the wizarding world.

A fun read for anyone looking for quality HP fan fiction.

I didn't finish reading this book... I found it slightly boring and it didn't meet my expectations.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I'm a huge fanatic of the Harry Potter series, and was curious to see how this was. Obviously, it cannot compare to Rowling, but this book was very entertaining! It was an easy read that I flew through. I would have given it five stars, because I was so entertained and enthralled by the story, but I didn't like the way the book ended. Four stars it is. Still, if you're a Harry Potter fan and aren't too rigid when it comes to the series, I would recommend this book!

After reading the books and watching the films of the Harry Potter series, I was very intrigued as to how this tale would form seeing as it is not of JK Rowling's work.

The result is that this is a great read for all ages (no matter if they are aware of Harry Potter or not).

This first book is set a year before the last 10 minutes of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2. It follows the journey of Harry and Ginny's eldest son, James Potter, as he undertakes his first year at Hogwarts.

Along the way, he makes some good long term friends (as well as some enemies) and there is also the reincarnation of a legend as old as time itself!

The author adequately describes the characters, surroundings etc with great detail and even includes a couple of twists.

The end of the book nicely sets up the rest of the series which I'm looking forward to reading.

Would definitely recommend this book and possibly the series (I say this as I have yet to read the 2nd and 3rd books).
