Definitely a reimagining. The modern woman in me prefers this take. Plus, I really liked the art.

Beautiful take on an old story - the visual art is engrossing
the art style was really gorg, but the story felt rushed even for a graphic novel.
I haven't read jane eyre so I can't attest to how good or bad of an adaptation/reimagining it is.

2.5 stars. Stunning art. Mediocre retelling of Jane Eyre.
Jane Eyre is one of my favorite classics, I love modern retellings of classic literature, and I enjoy graphic novels, so I thought I’d give this book a try. The artwork in this book is absolutely stunning, and I loved the transition work from black and white to color. However, I found the actual plot of the book to be a disappointing take on a beloved classic. In this rendition, Jane has very little personality outside of caring for Adele and Rochester. Rochester also makes numerous poor choices without ever being held accountable for them, and Mrs. Rochester is demoted to being practically dead rather than an insane person who at least has some semblance of autonomy. All in all, this book was dissatisfying, and even the artwork couldn’t really save it.
Une excellente réécriture moderne de l'histoire de Jane Eyre
Lovely art and I generally enjoyed this modern twist on “Jane Eyre,” but like other reviewers have noted, it’s harder to get on board with Rochester and Jane’s relationship in a present-day context. I also found some of the story choices odd, especially towards the end; I didn’t expect this to be a one-to-one retelling, but if an author is going to make big changes to significant characters, I think those choices should add something meaningful rather than strange to the story. And as has also been noted in other reviews, this book really could have benefited from more pages for character and plot development. My mind filled in the gaps for me, but if I wasn’t already familiar with the “Jane Eyre” story, this would have been a much sparser read.
