Rarely do I think a sequel is better than the first, but this one might just be that. This book is a well deserved four stars. The writing was superb, I loved the little tidbits and references woven throughout the book that were connected to the previous book. One of the very few gripes that I had with the book was I wished that their characters/personalities were just a bit more consistent with the last book.

I love this book, and the previous book Him, so much I have just finished reading them both for the fourth time and realised I never wrote a review. So here is a quick one.
From the moment I started reading Him I loved these characters. This book follows the struggles of this couple, Jamie and Wes, as they navigate their new relationship while having to hide it from the world due to Wes' high profile hockey career and the fear of not being accepted, and they struggles they face when their relationship is found out. It touches on some important issues such as homophobia and acceptance.
Ultimately love is love and this book shows that to be true

If reading is my hobby, then reading gay hockey books is my sub-hobby. Cannot keep me away, I enjoy them every time. It’s always a bonus when there’s a sequel with some established relationship angst and hurt/comfort, my favorite tropes of all time. Like if someone doesn’t end up in the hospital or get outed as the first openly gay NHL player, is it REALLY a gay hockey book? No.

God I’m a sucker for hurt/comfort. Loved the touches of angst with the ending.

The sequel to Him this one was much more angsty then it's predecessor. Here we follow Jaime & Wes as they deal with keeping their relationship under wraps for just a few more months. That is until a crisis hits and their outed without their consent.
There are still plenty of sweet moments though that show how much these two love and respect each other.
